How to Keep Antibiotics Working for Us

One way to avoid health risk is to stop mixing popular antibiotics into animal feed.  This is a practice that is believed to have led to a surge in dangerous, drug-resistant bacteria.  Mixing antibiotics such as penicillin, macrolides, sulfonamides and tetracycline in livestock, poultry and other animals feed have shown to be less effective when given to humans for treatment.
A large percent of antibiotics that are sold in the United States are used in the animal feed.  This has been shown that the overuse of these drugs can cause bacteria’s to become resistance.  It can also cause the human immune system to develop germs that will not react to antibiotics treatments.
We must take a stand to preserve these lifesaving medicines, to cure serious diseases for people that will need it now and in the future.
